I am never more at peace than when I am sketching or painting. I chose the watercolor medium because of its spontaneity and accidental effects. I love the bright colors and enjoy working with a very wet technique. I live in Rockport Maine where the beauty of the area inspires creativiy. I have been drawing and painting for my whole adult life and feel that my career as a healthcare provider for children has given me a sensitivity to the world, people, and animals. I have been privileged to work with some great artists.
I enjoy painting the human form and love to enhance the piece with brightly colored garments. I paint people from the side or back so the viewer can see the figure in the painting as themselves, a friend, their mother or brother. .I enjoy traveling and take that opportunity to observe and paint on location whenever possible. Some of my favorite locales are the Virgin Islands, South Africa and of course the beautiful midcoast of Maine.
I have shown my work at the Annual Aldermere Farm show in Rockport, Maine, The Camden National Bank, Rockland ME, First Light Gallery in Belfast ME, The Maine Art Gallery, Wiscasset ME, Carver Hill Gallery, Rockport and The Rockland Art Market, Rockland ME.
In 2008 I opened Winding Way Watercolors Art Gallery in Rockland. It brings me great joy to show my work and the beautiful work of my good friend Kathy Lane and now that of Diana Maddocks.
I paint for the enjoyment it brings to my life and I love for one of my works to bring a smile to the viewers face. I truly hope you enjoy my work.

I was born and raised in Boston. Growing up in the city, I was always drawn to patches of green space, trees, and flowers. When I settled in Rockland, Maine, several years ago, I felt overwhelmed by the beauty of the coastal area.
I have been painting in watercolor for fifteen years, and in colored pencil and oils for about five years. I studied with Lynda Lyle Tate in Germantown, Tennessee, Deborah Ellis and Michael Platt in Alexandria, Virginia, and Angela Anderson and Holly Smith in Rockland. I cherish their support, and the encouragement and critiques of many good friends.
Flowers and other growing things are my passion, but the rocky seacoast, the ever-changing ocean, and the astonishingly clear sunlight in mid-coast Maine have drawn my interest to land- and seascapes. I recently started showing my work in public. I was delighted to have won prizes at the 2007 Union Fair and in the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Lobster Festival Merchants Row Art Contest. I have shown my work in the First Light Gallery in Belfast, Maine, and The Landing Gallery in Woodbury, New York. I have also exhibited my work at the Bangor.
