Girl Artist by the Sea
this was Painted in 2006 in support of the production of The Charlotte Salomon Project a play produced by Polybe+Seats ( see links),The play was about a Jewish artist exiled in Nice, France during the Holocaust.I have chosen "Charlotte" as the logo for Winding Way Watercolors Art Gallery.
Charlotte painted over 700 watercolors during her exile. Unfortunately, she and her husband died at Auschwitz but her paintings survived in the hands of a local physician and were given to her father when he went to look for her after the war. The paintings are permanently housed in the Jewish Museum in Amsterdam. I hope you like my painting of Charlotte. Prints are available.
